PillRem

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

PillRem respects the privacy of its users. This policy explains what data the application handles, where it is stored and how you can control it. Use of the application implies acceptance of this Privacy Policy. For any inquiries: contactus@pillremapp.com

1. Introduction

PillRem is a medication reminder application for iPhone and iPad, developed by an independent developer (hereinafter, "the Developer"). The Developer may update this policy at any time. Changes will be published on this page with the corresponding update date.

2. Data you enter in PillRem

PillRem only handles the data you enter directly into the application:

  • Profile names: to identify the profiles you create.
  • Medication data: name, dose, form, schedule, stock, expiry dates and optional photos.
  • Dose records: the history of doses taken, skipped or missed.
  • Doctor details: name, specialty, phone, email and address, only if you enter them.
  • App preferences: appearance, notification settings and access code.

PillRem does not collect browsing data, advertising identifiers or data from other applications.

3. Where your data is stored

Everything you enter is stored on your device. If iCloud is enabled on your Apple account, it is synced in encrypted form between your own devices through your iCloud account. The Developer does not have access to your data at any time. Apple runs iCloud under its own privacy policy, available at apple.com/privacy.

PillRem has no account and does not ask for your email address.

4. How the data is used

Your data is used only to show reminders and notifications, calculate your adherence, sync your devices through iCloud and, if you use the feature, find nearby pharmacies. PillRem does not sell, share or transfer your personal data to third parties.

5. No advertising and no tracking

PillRem 2.0 and later contain no advertising, no advertising identifiers and no tracking tools. Section 9 explains how earlier versions worked.

6. Device permissions

PillRem may ask for the following permissions. All of them are optional and can be changed at any time in your device Settings:

  • Camera: to scan barcodes and DataMatrix codes on medication boxes, and to take photos of medications.
  • Photos: to choose images from your library and save medication photos.
  • Notifications: to remind you of doses and expiry dates. If you turn on critical alerts, important reminders can sound even with Focus or the silent switch on.
  • Location: to show nearby pharmacies. It is only used at that moment and is never stored or sent to the Developer.
  • Face ID or Touch ID: to lock the app, if you turn this on. The check is done by your device; PillRem never receives your biometric data.

7. Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store. The Developer does not receive your payment details.

8. Children

PillRem is not directed at children under 13, and in the European Union not at children under 16. A parent or guardian can manage a child’s medication in a profile of their own app. If you believe a child has provided personal data, write to contactus@pillremapp.com.

9. Earlier versions

Versions of PillRem before 2.0 (up to and including 1.2.2) showed ads through Google AdMob and used App Tracking Transparency to ask for consent to personalised ads. In those versions AdMob could collect device identifiers and approximate location for advertising. AdMob was removed completely in version 2.0. If you still use an earlier version, updating is free.

10. Your rights

Because your data stays on your device and in your own iCloud, you can view, change or delete it yourself at any time in the app, or by deleting the app and its iCloud data.

European Union and United Kingdom (GDPR and UK GDPR): you can ask for access, rectification, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data, object to its processing and complain to your data protection authority.

United States (California CCPA/CPRA and other state privacy laws): the Developer does not sell or share your personal information and does not receive your medication data.

11. Contact by email

If you write to contactus@pillremapp.com, your email address is used only to answer you. You will not receive unsolicited messages.

12. Cookies on this website

This section applies to pillremapp.com only. The PillRem app uses no cookies and no analytics.

This website uses no cookies unless you accept them in the banner shown on your first visit. If you accept, the site loads Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies (_ga, _gid) to count visits and see which pages are read. IP addresses are anonymised, and the data is only used in aggregate to improve this site.

If you reject, no analytics script is loaded and no analytics cookies are created. Only your choice is stored, in your browser’s local storage, so the banner is not shown again. You can change your mind at any time from the Cookie settings link in the footer. Google’s privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

13. Applicable law

The Developer processes personal data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the other privacy laws that apply, including those described in this policy.
