Why you should keep a medication list, and what to put on it

By PillRem ·

At a new doctor, in the emergency room or at the pharmacy counter, someone will ask: “What medicines do you take?” A written list answers better than memory.

What to include

  • Every prescription medicine, over the counter medicine, vitamin and supplement.
  • The name and the strength of each one.
  • What it is for.
  • When, how and how much you take.
  • Your allergies, your medical conditions and an emergency contact.

When to update it

Review the list regularly, and update it straight away when a medicine starts, stops or changes dose.

Keep it with you

A photo on your phone, a medication app or a paper copy in your wallet all work. The important thing is that it is with you when you need it.

Share it

Give a copy to the people who might speak for you: a partner, an adult child, a carer. And show it to your doctor, pharmacist or lab staff when they ask.

Our free printable medication list creates a clean list you can print, and PillRem keeps the same information up to date on your iPhone.
